Envelope ✉

The envelope symbol represents mail and email. It is used to label email addresses in signatures, contact sections and flyers, and to mark messages or newsletters. Some devices display it as an envelope emoji. In compact business cards and plain-text footers, it replaces the word "Email" and keeps contact lines short and scannable.

How to type ✉

Windows

Press Win + . to open the emoji panel, then type “envelope”.
In Microsoft Word or Outlook: type 2709 then press Alt + X.
Open Character Map (search “Character Map” in Start), tick “Advanced view”, search for “envelope”, then Select and Copy.

Mac

Press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer, search “envelope”, and double-click the result.
With the Unicode Hex Input keyboard enabled (System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources), hold Option and type 2709.

Good to know

Don’t mix it up: It is often confused with 📧 (U+1F4E7, E-MAIL SYMBOL), an emoji showing an envelope with an @ sign.

Display: the character itself is always the same code point, but its shape comes from the font on the device showing it. If you see an empty box, the font lacks this glyph—the text is still correct.
